Kigali, Rwanda’s capital, and eight other areas around the country have been placed under curfew in order to combat an increase in coronavirus cases and deaths.
Citizens are instructed to cut down on social interactions and limit their movements to solely needed services until July 26th.
Except for those providing critical services, all governmental and private workplaces have been ordered shuttered.
Other measures that will go into effect include a ban on outdoor sports and recreational activities, as well as school closures and a limit of 15 people attending funerals.
International tourism and arrivals, on the other hand, will continue.
A dusk-to-dawn curfew that was imposed across the country in June is still in effect.
Recall that Rwanda earlier adjusted its covid19 measure to eaee restrictions, and has managed to dodge the worst of the pandemic so far by enforcing some of the continent’s harshest containment measures and instituting a thorough testing and contact tracking program.
